The Technological University possesses a rich history marked by growth and development. It was initially established as Khartoum Technical College in 1989, laying the foundation for technical and vocational education in the South Khartoum region. For more than three decades, the institution served as a vital training ground for students aspiring to acquire technical and engineering skills.
In 2018, the college was upgraded to a Technological University, a significant milestone in its institutional journey. This transformation reflected a firm commitment to expanding academic programs and embracing a broader range of specializations. Moreover, becoming a public governmental university marked a transition into the national higher education sector, enabling access to comprehensive support and resources.
Today, the Technological University proudly comprises six colleges that serve a wide spectrum of academic disciplines. These include: the College of Engineering and Architecture, the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, the College of Information Systems, the College of Business Studies, the College of Nursing, and the College of Law, in addition to various departments and academic schools within these colleges. This academic diversity enables the university to offer a broad range of programs, providing students with extensive opportunities for study and specialization.
Currently, the university offers four types of academic degrees: the Intermediate Diploma, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science with Honors, and Bachelor of Engineering with Honors. This comprehensive academic structure allows students to pursue diverse educational pathways aligned with their interests and professional aspirations.
In 2022, the university took another important step forward by establishing the College of Graduate Studies, underscoring its commitment to advanced academic research and higher education. The university plans to offer three postgraduate degrees: the Higher Diploma, Master’s degree, and Doctorate (PhD). This expansion is expected to attract a wider range of students, strengthen academic research, and contribute meaningfully to knowledge production across various fields.
With these developments, the Technological University moves confidently toward a promising future—one in which it provides high-quality education and research opportunities while contributing to the development and growth of South Khartoum in particular, and Sudan as a whole.

Education is one of the fundamental pillars for the survival of nations and a key driver of construction and development. No matter how difficult or harsh the circumstances may be, the mission of the university remains steadfast: to provide flexible, high-quality education to all segments of society, and to offer a distinguished academic and professional journey for its students and staff across all campuses and branches. United by strong determination and collective will, we strive to achieve institutional leadership and contribute to the renaissance of our beloved homeland.
At the university administration, we count on everyone’s active participation in advancing the university academically, scientifically, and administratively, fostering innovation in educational technologies, and demonstrating excellence and rapid responsiveness to the fast-changing global demands in skills, competencies, and tools. Through this, we aim to deliver an education we are proud of in all forums and to contribute to lifting our country from the challenges of suffering and underdevelopment imposed by war, instability, and insecurity.
